North Vaughan is located within the Greater Toronto Area and is experiencing rapid population growth. Recognizing that road construction alone cannot meet the travel demands being created by new residents and jobs, the region is working to address its transportation challenges through expansion of transit, construction of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and implementation of TDM.
UrbanTrans undertook an audit of existing bicycle conditions throughout the North Vaughan area, before developing specific improvements to the area for bicycle mobility. These recommendations aimed at creating new bicycle links between existing and planned residential areas and employment areas, and providing first and last mile connectivity to transit stations, overcoming major infrastructure barriers along the way.
Jonny Rotheram led the bicycle analysis of the region and formation of improvements, with support from Ulla Hester and Amy Johnson.
