UrbanTrans is undertaking several tasks within the ARC Regional bike to transit plan. We performed bicycle audits around major transit stations within the Atlanta region to provide both improvement plans, maps to access the stations and also current bicycle parking conditions. This task involved primary data collection using virtual reality 360 cameras to allow stakeholders to visually experience each transit station without having to visit there.
The virtual reality imagery also helped the plan development for where potential parking facilities could be situated.
UrbanTrans is also leading a feasibility study for ARC to develop regional bicycle parking stations. During this study a number of similar regions were selected that have a regional bike-transit parking program. Interviews were then undertaken for each region to understand best practices, covering a range of aspects of regional bike-transit systems, including cost, marketing, operations and facilities provided.
The feasibility report will help guide ARC to develop their own regional bicycle parking program.
